Heading to Jeonju, Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangju, Mokpo, or Jinju? Important SRT Train Update Due to Heavy Rain

Hey there, fellow travelers! If you're dreaming of exploring the beautiful southern parts of South Korea by SRT train, listen up! As of July 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM KST, heavy rain in the southern regions has caused some SRT train routes to be temporarily suspended. This might affect your travel plans, so let's get you up to speed!

Which SRT Routes Are Affected? And What About Your Dream Destinations?

Good news first: the SRT Gyeongbu Line (Suseo-Busan) is running as usual. But, if your plans involve these routes, please take note:

  • Heading to Gwangju or Mokpo? (Honam Line: GwangjuSongjeong ~ Mokpo sections are suspended): GwangjuSongjeong Station is your gateway to Gwangju, a city rich in South Korea's democratic history and vibrant modern culture. And then there's Mokpo, famous for its stunning coastal views, fresh seafood, the mystical Gatbawi Rock, and charming traditional Hanok villages mixed with fascinating modern heritage sites. This area is a crucial hub for exploring the diverse natural beauty and historical culture of the southern provinces.

  • Visiting Jeonju, Suncheon, or Yeosu? (Jeolla Line: Iksan ~ Yeosu Expo sections are suspended): The Jeolla Line connects Iksan, Jeonju, Gokseong, Suncheon, and Yeosu Expo, making it a super popular route for hitting all the key spots in the Jeolla region. Were you hoping to taste traditional flavors and experience the beauty of Hanok Village in Jeonju? Or maybe immerse yourself in the wonders of nature at Suncheon Bay National Garden, or soak in the romantic night views of Yeosu's sea? These lines have been favorites for both day trips and overnight stays, often linked with SRT travel packages.

  • Planning a trip to Jinju? (Gyeongjeon Line: Dongdaegu ~ Jinju sections are suspended): The Gyeongjeon Line runs from Daegu to Jinju, a city brimming with history and culture. Many of you might have planned to visit historical sites like Jinjuseong Fortress, Namgang River, and Chokseongnu Pavilion to feel the pulse of Korea's past. Jinju, with its blend of tradition and modernity, is particularly appealing to global travelers interested in historical and cultural experiences.

Before You Travel: Please Check!

Train services can change suddenly due to heavy rain and ongoing track safety checks. So, before you head out, please, please make sure to check the very latest train operation information via the SRT mobile app or their official website.
